FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AIFBF charge for help?

Call our helpline to understand how we can support you. Filing a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman is completely free, and nobody should ask you for money to file it.

A loan app is threatening to send my photos to my contacts. What do I do?

Do not pay under pressure. Take screenshots of every message, report it on cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930, file a police complaint, and call our helpline. Check whether the lender is registered with the RBI.

Can a recovery agent come to my home at night?

No. Under RBI rules agents should visit only between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., unless you asked for another time. They must carry an ID card and an authorisation letter from the lender.

I can't pay my EMIs because I lost my job or fell ill. What are my options?

Speak to your lender early. Ask in writing about restructuring, an EMI holiday, a longer tenure or a one-time settlement. We can help you prepare for that conversation.

How do I file a complaint with the RBI?

First complain to your lender in writing. If there's no reply within 30 days, or the reply is unsatisfactory, file at cms.rbi.org.in, email crpc@rbi.org.in, or call the RBI contact centre on 14448.
